Roads, Schools Close in South Alabama After Downpours

GENEVA, Ala. (AP) -- Heavy rains have forced officials to close roads and school systems in south Alabama, and more storms are on the way.
Downpours left roads covered with water in the southeastern corner of the state, and schools were closed in Geneva and Wilcox counties on Tuesday because of flooding.
The National Weather Service says parts of central Alabama have received as much as 6 inches of rain since Sunday, and some areas could get another 2 or 3 inches before the storms end Wednesday.
South Alabama is under a flash flood watch, and some areas are under flash flood warnings.
