Marianna- Jackson County School District Transportation Director John Hamilton spoke out Thursday amid accusations he sexually harassed a female bus driver.
"We just were not expecting anything like this. This has been devastating to me and my family. We can't sleep, we talk about it you start crying," said Hamilton.
According to the school district, the woman claimed Hamilton and two male bus drivers made inappropriate comments to her.
"One of the individuals admitted to the accusation that was made. The other person totally denied it," said Jackson County School Deputy Superintendent Larry Moore.
The driver also alleged that Hamilton inappropriately touched her.
"We've tried to talk to as many people as we can and try to gather as much information as we could," said Moore.
School officials said they did not find any concrete evidence to support the woman's claims and Hamilton denies it, but the district still suspended him without pay for two months.
"Mr. Hamilton's responses were not satisfactory," said Moore.
Once he's served his suspension, Moore said Hamilton will also most likely be demoted.
"The plans are that he will not be back in a director's position," said Moore.
Even though he'll be allowed to return to work, Hamilton said the damage has already been done.
"It's out there. Again devastating, devastating," said Hamilton.
The woman who claimed she was sexually harassed resigned last month around the same time the complaint was filed. It's not clear if she plans to take legal action against Hamilton or the school district.
