Scooter Rider Critical Following Crash

A Marianna man riding a Hoveround type scooter was critically injured Friday night when struck by a pick up truck.

The mishap happened on US 90 at Dekle Street a few minutes after 6 PM.

The Florida Highway Patrol identified the scooter driver as 36 year old Marcus Brown of Marianna.

Troopers say Brown was trying to drive across US 90 outside of a crosswalk and with no lights. A pick up truck driven by Hector Santana of Graceville didn’t see the scooter and crashed into it and dragged it about 25 feet.

Santana got out and rendered aid to Brown until paramedics arrived. He was taken first to Jackson Hospital in Marianna and later was transferred to Tallahassee Memorial Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
