Tourist Bitten By Shark Off Of Okaloosa Island

OKALOOSA COUNTY-- A Tennessee tourist will have a great story to take home about his vacation at the beach.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies suspect a shark bit the 40 year old man on the ankle about 2:30 Monday afternoon.

The man was swimming near the second sandbar, about 75 feet off of Okaloosa Island near the 7th beach access, around the 900 block of South Santa Rosa Boulevard.

He said he felt some a pain on his ankle, then saw about a 4 foot shark swimming away.

Deputies called it a "pretty significant bite".

Paramedics took the man to Ft. Walton Beach medical center for treatment.
