BAY COUNTY The Chamber of Commerce is preparing for Bay County's first ever Small Business Saturday.

More than 30 local businesses will open their doors Saturday to help celebrate the backbone of America's economy.

The Chamber is using certain incentives to encourage Panama City to participate.

Momma Goldberg's Deli opened its doors to Panama City five months ago.

Since then, the small business has served hundreds of their famous nachos and "Mama's Love" sandwiches.

But the deli still struggles to compete with their chain-restaurant competitors.

Momma Goldberg's Deli Cynthia Webb says, "Most of the name brand people like Arby's or Five Guys, their name is out there quite a bit and as for our struggle it's basically getting our name out there."

Small businesses are responsible for 54% of all US sales, and make up 85% of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce.

Three years ago, American Express decided to celebrate the 23 million small businesses in America by creating "Small Business Saturday".

Bay County Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Communications Brittany Cole says, "The Bay County Chamber of Commerce picked it up and ran with it, and we got a bunch of participating local small businesses, because they are the backbone of our economy."

Shoppers can win a $50 gift card to Los Rancheros by getting involved.

They're encouraged to print a passbook from the Bay County Chamber's website and gather stamps from participating stores.

Completed passbooks will be entered into a drawing on Wednesday

C&G Sporting Goods Owner Ronnie Groom says, "It's a way to get the customers in the store, and let them find out that we're here."

Party America employee Tiffany Sparks explains, "We're hoping to have a lot of business and get our name out there."

And Sweet Frog Manager Jonathan Dunkin says, "Anytime we can be part of the community especially the Chamber of Commerce, it's very exciting."
