Saturday saw the opening of red snapper season, attracting hundreds to the area, where some learned of the two fish limit put in place matched with a shorter season.

While many locals and visitors were upset about the change, it didn't stop those on the water from having a good time after traveling to the gulf coast.

10-year-old Cainan Forsyth made the trip to Captain Anderson's Marina early in the morning with his father, for his first trip on the ocean, hoping to catch a red snapper - he ended up snagging the biggest one on the boat, much to his surprise.

Despite the generally positive attitude held by visitors, some were upset about the changes put in place by officials, limiting them to two red snapper and shortening the federal season to 26 days, the shortest it's ever been.
