Special Olympics Kicks Off in Bay County

The Special Olympics kicked off Friday at the Tommy Oliver Stadium.

Families, friends and teachers alike were on hand to cheer on their favorite athletes to victory.

Teams from all Bay County Schools competed in activities such as wheel chair races and volleyball. They even had a special event for the sight impaired athletes.

The goal of the Special Olympics is to promote health and well being and also instill a sense of pride in their special accomplishment.
