Former Springfield City Clerk Arrested for Grand Theft

Anne Andrews, the former City Clerk and Human Resource Director for the City of Springfield, was arrested Thursday and charged with fraudulent use of credit cards and grand theft.

Andrews, while employed by the City of Springfield, is accused of making multiple personal purchases with the Regions Bank credit card without the consent or permission of the city.

During the course of a financial audit, it was discovered Andrews made the purchases between the dates of January 18, 2012 through March 29, 2012. Purchases were made at T-Mobile, Sears, Knology, and Hammacher Schlemmer. The purchases totaled $1,456.59.

Andrews also transferred funds from restricted city bank accounts to other city accounts.

The investigation is ongoing.
