13 year old Jacob Cooper was at the intersection of Business 98 and Second Plaza in Springfield about 7:30 Thursday morning.
As he was trying to cross the street he ran into the path of a car driven by Jason Lowry of Panama City.
Police say Lowry slammed on his breaks and tried to swerve but couldn't avoid hitting Cooper.
Family friends tell us the teenager has a fractured skull as well as bleeding on the brain.
After being stabilized at Bay Medical Center, Cooper was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
