Suspected Robber, Store Clerk Die in Pensacola Area Shootout

BROWNSVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A clerk and a suspected robber died in a shootout at a convenience store in the Pensacola suburb of Brownsville.

Escambia County Sheriff's officials say a man entered AC Grocery late Monday afternoon and attempted to rob it at gunpoint.

The clerk pulled out a gun during the robbery and shot the suspect. The man then fired at the clerk.

According to a sheriff's office release, the clerk died at the scene. The suspect ran from the scene but collapsed nearby and was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The names of the clerk and the suspect have not been released.
