PANAMA CITY BEACH - The newest version of the Bay County Tourist Development Council's marketing committee is focusing on the late spring and summer tourist seasons.
Committee members did not discuss the recent negative spring break publicity, nor did they talk about marketing spring break next year. They did reveal their latest advertising.
The Bay County TDC's marketing committee is hoping a new television commercial will attract more tourists.
They revealed the new commercial during their meeting Wednesday afternoon at the Edgewater Beach and Golf Resort Conference Center. They didn't dive into any details about next year's plan to market spring break.
Panama City Beach and Bay County Tourist Development Council officials were put under fire after an unflattering report by Fox News. TDC marketing board members are moving past spring break to focus on advertising for spring and summer.
The new website showcasing Panama City Beach debuted last July. Board members believe the website along with the newly created bucket list application will help attract tourists.
"So that people become more familiar with panama city beach and they may decide to come down here for an opportunity that they didn't know about," said Susan Essler, TDC Marketing Vice President.
Some committee members want to expand further, marketing Panama City Beach on an international scale.
"One gentleman was very interested in the international business, which some people have some concerns. Do we really attract an international traveler as much as we do a southeast traveler? Should the money be spent closer to home?," said Philip Griffitts Jr., Sugar Sands Owner.
The marketing committee is also responsible for creating a quarterly visitors guide.
