Task Force Develops Plans for Panama City Resource Center to Help the Homeless

Panama City - Panama City's Community Resource Center task force has decided what services it will provide Panama City's homeless community. Now, it needs to come up with the money and a location.

In a meeting last month, the task force decided to call part of it's new facility the REEF. That stands for Reach Everyone Empowering Futures. It also came up with a list of organizations that would have space in the facility, including Life Management, the Department of Children and Families, the Bay County Health Department and the Workforce Board. The next step for the task force is to pick a location and that could happen sometime this month. Panama City Rescue Mission Director Billy Fox says he's pleased with the latest plans because it will help the mission provide all sorts of services to the homeless community. He says this new resource center will alleviate the responsibility of the mission's day center services. He says he envisions working with the new facility and might even like to move the mission next door to it when a location is picked out.

Please make sure these people who are truly in need find jobs on a national level. It is also important to make sure that what little money they are able to earn is not given away to churches. They are a vulnerable population.

I guess that Fox changed his mind when he said that the mission would never move. The mission will move with or without his approval. Bay county does what it wants and the regular people have nothing to say about it.

Ron, regular people DO have a say about it. That is the EXACT reason that the efforts to develop this facility and the new ordinances to eliminate nuisances and panhandling. the community tired of the problems and VOICED their concerns and complaints and in doing so ACTION has happened. The ball is rolling to lessen the impact of the rescue mission on downtown.

Now, it needs to come up with the money and a location. OK, DIB, time to pony up. You started this and have the contacts and like resources to ensure it will get funded, now be something besides a NIMBY and actually do something for your fellow man besides hold parties on Friday night. p.s. Good luck finding a place for this...

Billy Fox IS the problem. Notice now how he is saying they "might just move next door to the resource center"? This is the same clown that less than a year ago was thumbing his nose at the community demanding 10 million dollars to move the mission. I suppose he is realizing that the community is onto his cash cow scam and are tired of the effects he mission has had on downtown so dear Billy is trying to keep himself relevant by now "participating in the solution". Have responsible organizations run the new resource center and send Billy out of town on the next greyhound bus and the homeless will be better served and the community will not have the eyesore that is the rescue mission. movethemission.wordpress.com

Also who gives YOU the right to talk for the community Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous. Again, afraid to post your name, you loose credibility.
