Three Arrested in "Shake and Bake" Meth Lab Discovery

The Panama City Police Department investigated complaints from citizens about suspicious activity at Pinewood Village Apartments located on 19th Street.

Tuesday night around 9:30, Investigators with Panama City Police Department’s Special Operations Unit located an active “Shake and Bake” lab inside the residence. Three people were removed from the residence for their safety and detained.

Trained special investigators wearing protective equipment rendered the chemical lab and its contents safe. The debris were properly contained and disposed of.

The three persons arrested and charged in connection to this investigation are 32 year old Joseph Kelley, 32 year old William Stevens, and 22 year old Austin Whitmire.

Kelley was charged with keep/maintain a drug house, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Stevens was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine, and manufacture of drug paraphernalia.

Whitmire was charged with violation of probation in reference to a previous methamphetamine related charge.

This case remains under investigation and more criminal charges are pending.
