We're starting to get an idea about what's going on the property that used to be home to a landmark Panama City Beach restaurant.

Back in April 2010 a fire gutted the inside of the Treasure Ship restaurant off Thomas Drive. The Nomberg family opened the Treasure Ship in 1978 and operated it until the fire. Since then they've been at odds with the county over building codes limits for rebuilding.

Crews demolished the remains of the old ship in December. Now it appears the Nombergs and the county are moving closer to an agreement.

Commissioners will take up a Development Agreement proposal during a public hearing Tuesday.

The Treasure Island Marina, which is also owned by the Nomberg's is taking the lead in redevelop the property.

The county's meeting agenda spells out what's possible, including restaurants with accessory bars, hotels retail space and some redevelopment of the marina site as well, which includes a boat maintenance and service shop and rebuilding boat houses.

There's also a request for some tax refunds as incentive to attract a new, as-yet unnamed venture that's supposed to add more than 75-new jobs.

We've also learned the deal could hinge on a small pie-shape piece of land near the foot of the new grand lagoon bridge that has been the center of a legal dispute between the county and the Normerg family.
