STARKE, Fla - After more than 20 years on Florida's death row, the state has finally carried out its sentence against a Miami rapist and murderer.
Marshall Lee Gore was executed Tuesday night at the Florida State Prison in Starke.
An anti-death penalty group held a vigil for Gore Wednesday inside of the State Capital Building.
Participants sang, and urged the state to reconsider capital punishment.
A man who was wrongfully sentenced to Florida's death row made his case to the media.
Former death row inmate, Herman Lindsey said, "There's too many legal error issues for florida to actually be executing and I'm a prime example of that."
Gore was supposed to have been executed September.
But Gov. Rick Scott delayed it at the request of Attorney General Pam Bondi, who said the original date conflicted with a campaign fundraiser she'd scheduled in Tampa.
Bondi has since apologized amid heavy criticism.
