Former Walton County Commissioner and citizen of the year Lane Charles Rees was arrested Monday after the Walton County Cyber Crimes unit found probable cause of child pornography.

After arresting Rees, the Walton County Sheriff's Office is now charging him with possession of child pornography and transmission of child pornography.

Sheriff's office P-I-O Wendy Ammons says deputies are continuing to sort through Rees' things but have already found several pictures of underage children.

"Well we understand his standing in the community but the community also needs to understand that a crime has been committed and we have to move forward with that. Now it's not for us to judge, that would be for a court or a jury to decide, but at this point there was probable cause for us to believe that a crime had occurred and an arrest was made," said Ammons.

Rees who is also a member of the Walton County Republican Party was released on a 100,000 dollars bond from the Walton County Jail.
