Around 20 people showed up at a meeting at the Walton County Sheriff's Office this morning to talk with deputies about a scam where their personal and financial information was stolen them, seemingly out of thin air.
Officials believe that the information was stolen around February 26th and that the initial transactions showed up around the first weekend of March. It's believed that that the criminals are using several different methods to steal the information.
Officials say they've received around 50 calls concerning the scam. If you see any strange activity on your card, notify your bank and then contact the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
