VALPARAISO - The Florida Department of Health is warning people who live in Valparaiso to boil their water before using it to drink, cook or even brush their teeth.
Public Works Director James Valandingham says the city’s water supply could have been contaminated while crews worked to repair a broken water main Saturday afternoon along John Sims Parkway.
As a precaution, the City and Health Department recommend you boil, for at least one minute, any tap water that you plan to consume. You can also use bottled water to be safe.
You do not need to boil any tap water used for bathing, washing clothes and irrigation.
The “Precautionary Boil Water Notice” will remain in effect until tests show the water is safe to consume.
