A brown pelican casts a baleful eye upon the birdwatching angler taking its picture.
A drunken wave runner operator who intentionally ran over and killed a brown pelican last summer will pay heavily for his actions.
Back in Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers arrested 32-year-old Brian Ray Robinson, after seeing him run over the pelican in St Andrews Bay, then flee the scene.
Brown pelicans are a protected species.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Robinson will not serve any time. But he will serve 3-years probation, perform 100 hours of community service work, and pay more than 16-hundred dollars in fines, court costs, and contributions.
Robinson also must pay for his random urine analysis, complete a D-U-I course, undergo counseling, and forfeit his wave-runner.
