MARIANNA - A Jackson County woman is accused of stealing her elderly mother’s identity.
The victim call the Sheriff’s Office on Halloween to report her identity had been stolen. The 70-year-old woman made the discovery after pulling a copy of her credit report. Someone obtained several credit cards and opened numerous lines of credit in her name. It turns out that someone is her daughter.
The Sheriff’s Office arrested Patty Thames on Wednesday. She’s charged with four counts of identity theft and one count of exploiting the elderly.
Thames was already on probation for another crime. She has also been charged with a parole violation.
