At 4:00 AM Saturday, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office rushed a home Coronado Place on the west end of Panama City Beach after 911 dispatchers were alerted that an unknown male subject had entered the bedroom of a 7 and 8 year old girls.
Witness statements indicate that the 7 year old was awakened to the male climbing into her bed and rubbing her leg. As she became upset, the suspect left the home on foot. A male occupant of the home armed himself with a baseball bat and began chasing the suspect south on Coronado towards Back Beach Road. He was able to strike the suspect before losing sight of him near Back Beach and Coronado.
The BCSO K9 Unit, Crime Scene Unit and Criminal Investigations Division responded. The K9 Unit was able to track the suspect near an area that it is believed that he may have entered a vehicle. A canvass of area sex offenders was initiated.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6’02”, 200 lbs with short dark hair and short facial hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt with an unknown black design and blue jeans. The suspect appeared to be in his late 20’s or early 30’s.
