Man Identified in Early Morning Fatal Car Crash in Fountain --UPDATE

Florida Highway Patrol has positively identified the driver who died Monday morning.

According to FHP, 60-year Daniel H. Russell, of Fountain, died after he crashed his ford Pick-up truck into the back of a tractor-trailer logging truck. The tractor-trailer was unoccupied and properly parked off the roadway at the time of the crash.

The report indicates Forest Drive makes a 90 degree left turn to the south; Russell did not negotiate the turn, causing his vehicle to crash into the rear of the logging truck. Russell's truck rotated 120 degrees and came to a rest at the brushline. The investigation is ongoing.

A man is dead following an early morning car crash in Fountain.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 4:45 AM Monday morning, a man whose name has not been released, was traveling down Silver Lake Road, towards the intersection of Forest Drive, in Fountain. His pick up truck crashed into the back of a parked logging truck. He died at the scene.

The logging truck was parked overnight at the dead end intersection of Silver Lake Drive & Forest Drive. It is believed the pick up truck driver apparently did not see the parked logging truck, ultimately crashing into the back of it.

FHP is waiting to release the man’s identity until relatives are notified.
