Mother and Son Escape Early Morning House Fire

Bay County Fire Officials tell NewsChannel 7, a mother and son were able to escape their home before it went up in flames Monday morning.

According to Captain Gutierrez, of the Bay County Fire Department, a neighbor notified authorities of the fire, sometime around 4:30 Monday morning. Fire and Rescue crews arrived on scene, and tell us, the mobile home, located in the Highland Park area just off of Cato road is a total loss.

Captain Gutierrez said the mother and her son were able to make it out of the home without injuries. The family dog, however, was rescued, but fire officials said, it was too late. The cause of the early morning fire is under investigation at this time.
