Panama City Police officers have arrested a woman who knocked down a telephone pole near the rescue mission.

A witness to the crash called the police department with a description of the white Ford van, which had fled the scene after the accident around 8:15 Thursday morning.

Officers responded, locating the vehicle and its driver, Niki Licole Sanders. Sanders had her one month old child unrestrained in the front seat of the van – a child seat sat empty in the backseat.

There were no signs of injury to the mother or child, but the infant is being examined at a local hospital to be sure.

Sanders is charged with fleeing, attempting to elude, and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. She's also being charged with child abuse.

WHY IS IT THAT A WOMAN WILL GET FAR LESS PUNISHMENT FOR THE SAME CRIME AS A MAN ?? PEOPLE WILL FEEL SORRY FOR HER BUT IF DAD WAS DRIVING HE WOULD DRAWN AND QUARTERED .. 10 YEARS IN CORRECTIONS I HAVE SEEN THIS COUNTLESS TIMES .. WHAT HAPPENED TO EQUAL RIGHTS ? GUESS IT DOESN'T MEAN EQUAL SENTENCES ..
