It's a terrifying scene that sounds like something out of a movie…a Jackson county woman is alive Tuesday morning after she claims her husband shot her with a BB gun, physically assaulted her, and set their home on fire.
Jackson County Sheriffs say it all happened just before 7:30 Monday night. Dispatch received a distress call from a woman, claiming her husband shot her in the head with what appeared to be a bb gun, hit her several times with a weapon and additionally, set their home on fire.
As authorities were in route to the woman's home on Heavenly Drive in Kynesville, dispatch received yet another call claiming the victim escaped and ran to a neighbor’s home for help. But that's when reports say the woman's husband, later identified as 41-year-old Bradford Derek Reagan, walked over to the neighbors home and shot the woman yet another time.
The neighbors managed to secure themselves inside the residence as they waited for authorities to arrive. Reports say Reagan ran off into nearby woods. Authorities arrived on scene and later apprehended Reagan in the woods after a short search.
Reagan was arrested without incident and investigators tell us they found a pump-style pellet rifle in Reagan’s possession. Reagan is charged with attempted murder and arson.
The victim was transported to Jackson Hospital where she was treated and released for her injuries.
Several agencies from across the state are assisting with the investigation.
