Early Tuesday morning a DeFuniak Springs man landed in the hospital, after apparently jumping out of a moving car.
The DeFuniak Springs Police were called to the intersection of Highway 331 and Orange Avenue, along with Walton County EMS workers.
There, they found 25-year-old James Thomas Birdwell, who witnesses say exited the front passenger seat of a silver 4 door Mitsubishi while it was traveling about 35 miles per hour.
Birdwell had to be life-flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where he is listed in stable condition. While the incident is still under investigation, investigators say alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
