Panama City – A combination of enthusiastic fans and ticket scalpers managed to snatch up all the tickets for a planned Jimmy Buffett concert to be held in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The concert was planned to help boost tourism along the Gulf Coast, and to help focus awareness on the hardship that residents living in the area are facing due to the threat of oil.

CMT.com reports that all the free tickets made available Wednesday morning were claimed in under 10 minutes. Fortunately for all the fans who missed out on the free tickets, a portion of the show will air live on CMT from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. Performances will also be simulcast live on Sirius satellite radio and xm satellite radio and streamed live on CMT.com

Unfortunately for some fans, it appears that ticket scalpers were able to get their hands on plenty of the free tickets, and are now offering them for sale on sites such as e-bay, for $200 or more.

At the concert, local boy Jimmy Buffet (who grew up in Alabama) will share the stage with acts such as Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, Allen Toussaint, Sonny Landreth, Jesse Winchester and more.

I would have loved to see JB and KC in concert and supported them as they support the Gulf Coast but ticket scalpers have screwed that up. I think you should have to show local ID, as a resident of a coastal town to purchase tickets...

The minute the clock turned to 10am I was in line online at TM. It told me my wait would be less than 4 minutes and I thought COOL, I DID IT! I was soooo disappointed that after 4 minutes it told me tix were unavailable. Even though I should have known better, I really didn't think scalpers would stoop so low but hey, the human race really impresses me on a daily basis. GGGRRRRRR! Those of you able to go to the show with free tix, spend lots of money in Gulf Shores and have a great weekend.

stick it to them and dont buy the tickets and when you see them out front trying to sell them before the concert call them out and give them a hard time.

I reported over 75 auctions as Prohibited on eBay and they have ended them all. Now, we simply get the CVB to issue the tickets AT THE GATE. This will eliminate the scalpers and allow those who REALLY want to come here and help to do so. Hotels and Condos are almost fully booked! Let's have some fun!

I was in the Que on ticketmaster.com at 10:01 and they were sold out when my place in line came......this is ridiculous because it looks like most of the people that got tickets are selling them for outrageous prices and all I wanted to was go down and support the Gulf and have fun
