My wife and I had also planned to go to Pier Park to see the fireworks. We had also been keeping an eye on the weather and decided to try our luck and hoped the rain would hold off. We were on Back Beach Rd. In standstill traffic when we saw the fireworks go off. We thought "Oh it is probably people shooting some fireworks but the more we glanced the more we doubted ourselves. Sure enough, it was Pier Park's fireworks and luckily we sorta caught the finale while in traffic. When we got to Pier Park, I thought I would double check the starting time and after checking 2 News Channels, News Herald, Island 106, and TripSmarter, all said 9:00 and no where was there an update that they would move up an hour. Was it because of the rain? I know at 8pm and 9pm there was no rain. Good job PCB on the weather predicting if that was the reason. I know PCB ruined a lot of people's 4th of July! If you make it at 9 then do it at 9. No exceptions! I guess its back to the PC Marina for next years show!

We were in traffic at 8:00p.m. almost at Pier Park when the fireworks started going off. Why?? This absolutly ruined me and my daughters 4th. Great job PCB!

After watching the radar, both on tv and online, much of the evening to see if the weather would break for the fireworks at Pier Park, it was obvious the rain would be cleared out of the area by 9pm. I live about a mile from Pier Park on Front Beach Rd. and planned to walk up the beach towards the pier to enjoy the fireworks display. Having lived here for 8 years I've come to plan my 4th of July around this event. To my disappointment, I'm inside my home and hear fireworks starting. I assumed it was people in the area starting early, as it is just after 8pm. My guest went outside, then came in and said Pier Park had started the fireworks already. Hurrying outside onto the beach, we realize they are half over. We did enjoy what few fireworks we saw, but I was both astonished and disappointed, not only for myself, but for all our beach visitors who missed seeing the full show. If someone had simply watched the radar, there was no doubt the rain would be gone by 9pm.
