Ala. town looking for guns lost in storm

PHIL CAMPBELL, Ala. (AP) -- The April 27 tornado that tore through the town of Phil Campbell destroyed a gun shop, and authorities are trying to keep the guns out of the wrong hands.
Larry Carpenter's Custom Gun Work Shop, along with guns and ammunition, were blown away by the storm.
Less than a third of the more than 300 guns have been recovered. Carpenter had long guns and hand guns in his shop. All were found on or near his property, near an area covered in debris.
Police believe most of the guns will be found in the debris.
Police Chief Merrell Potter.says requests for government help to locate the weapons and get the site cleaned up have been denied. He says volunteers may have to come in to clean up the area.
