Authorities: Mother of football star killed in Ga.

La GRANGE, Ga. (AP) -- A man is being held without bond at the Troup County jail after authorities say he shot and killed his estranged girlfriend.
Authorities say 37-year-old Jeffery Jones of Greenville was denied bond in the Sunday shooting of 37-year-old Tonya Bray of La Grange. He is charged with murder.
La Grange police Capt. Dale Strickland said investigators do not have a motive in the case, but the couple recently split after nearly two decades together. He said Bray was found in her car shot in the head.
Authorities say Jones turned himself in a short time after her death. It was not immediately clear whether Jones had an attorney.
Bray is the mother of Auburn University football player Quan Bray, who begins his freshman year with the Tigers this fall. He is among the top college recruits in the country.
