2013 marks the 100th birthday for Bay County and there have been many community celebrations marking the occasion. A very special one is happening Wednesday night at the McKenzie House in downtown Panama City.
This whole area used to be part of Washington County. An old map shows the proposed lines of Bay County from 1913.
Cathy Stevens, who is in fact the great granddaughter of Panama City's very first mayor, who lived in the McKenzie House for years joined Meredith Tuesday to talk about the special event.
The musical legacy of the McKenzie family lives on at the home and is still reaching the community.
The event runs from 5 to 7 Wednesday night at the McKenzie House. Light refreshments will be served and of course there will be live music.
