Sacred Heart is expected to affiliate with Bay Medical.
Tuesday morning, Bay Medical’s CEO will make a recommendation to the board of trustees to approve the deal. They’re looking affiliating with Sacred Heart and a group of private investors, in order to keep the level of care needed in the local community.
Currently, Bay Medical writes off about $300 million dollars a year for indigent care. A lease agreement with a larger nonprofit medical center, like Sacred Heart, will give the hospital access to better prices and lower bids.
Sacred Heart is based in Pensacola, and already has locations in Walton County and Port St. Joe.
