Panama City Beach Council members met for the final time Thursday before Tuesday’s city elections.

Members approved forming a special task force to look into the pros and cons of spring break. It will be led by the Bay County Tourist Development Council. This isn’t the first time the council has turn to a task force to examine Spring Break issues.

"We had some parking problems. We had traffic congestion, which we know we will have again in July, so we worked on those. And we started thinking we did this about three to four years ago, and it had really good results. So it might be something we need to revisit" said Gayle Oberst, Panama City Beach Mayoral Candidate.

The council plans to hold public workshops in May so the community can share their ideas and opinions regarding Spring Break.

Why not market to families rather than kids!!!! Oh that's right....they don't drink enough to make the bars happy. Sorry for being so silly.

Let me get this straight. The PCB city council asks the TDC, all of whom have a vested interest in keeping Spring Break status quo, to “examine Spring Break issues.” I’m sure a lot of change will be coming forward. (LOL!) Anyone ever thought to ask all of the residents of PCB what they want?

How about banning acohol on the beach. Just allow alcohol in the club areas and the clubs need to provide private security. PCB definitely is not family friendly during spring break. These kids start drinking on the beach in the early morning and continue until well past midnite. This has to be a nightmare for law enforcement with behavior problems, DUI's, and under age drinking. Let's make PCB family oriented.
