Food and Drug Administration researchers have a warning for you. Cuff size matters and you could get an inaccurate reading if it does not fit properly.
FDA researchers said most blood pressure monitoring kiosks have a one fixed-size cuff. If the cuff does not fit your arm properly, your reading won't be accurate. Knowing the circumference of your upper arm helps, but positioning the cuff correctly is also critical.
Researchers said this is why you should not overreact to one reading from a kiosk. If you do get a high blood pressure reading at home, don't hesitate to call your doctor to get a proper reading.
