Panama City -- Three teenage victims have accused 8th grade Social Studies teacher, William Crews, 59, of having sex with them. Crews is in the Bay County Jail, charged with lewd or lascivious battery, molestation, and exhibition.

Wednesday, Bay County Sheriff Deputies received a tip Crews had been having sex with 14 and 15 year old male students from Deane Bozeman. The alleged victims told investigators the longtime teacher would befriend them at school, then invite them to a storage unit he had been renting on Highway 77, since 1999.

“We executed a search warrant at the location last night and we did find information that corroborates with the statements of the victim, specifically a television VCR and pornographic tape and a (blowup doll-style) sex toy” said Major Tommy Ford, Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

The boys say most of the sexual activity took place in the storage unit, but they say Crews also had encounters with the boys during out of town trips. Prior to this incident, Crews had clean employment record and high performance evaluations with the Bay County School District. Bay District Schools Superintendent, Bill Husfelt says he was disgusted when he heard about Crews’ arrest Thursday night.

“The victims in this are the students and that’s the main thing and if any of these allegations are true…I don’t think it can be anymore serious” said Bill Husfelt, Bay District Superintendent.

Crews is just the latest Deane Bozeman employee to face legal problems in the past twelve months. The most recent, Principal Bill Payne, resigned last fall after an investigation found he was having inappropriate relations with a subordinate. In February of 2011, former girl’s teacher soccer coach, Daryl Shumate was arrested for marijuana possession on school property.

The current Deane Bozeman Principal, Josh Balkom has been principal of the school for just a few months following Payne’s resignation and after having a faculty meeting Friday morning, he says the school’s students and staff must continue moving forward.

“What’s most important is that our students are safe, and that we take care of our students and that will be our priority moving forward” said Josh Balkom, Deane Bozeman Principal.

Sheriff investigators say they expect to file more charges against Crews as more victims come forward. Crews has been suspended with pay, but Husfelt says he’s planning to recommend Crews’ termination to the school board.

Hey Janice what about the band director at Mosely, do we need to clean house there as well? Dont lump every teacher in the same category as this person!

If the safety and wellbeing of the students is first priority, does that mean Bay County will pick up the tab for the counseling these young men may need??? And what about the parents, like myself, that trusted this man with the safety of their children??? Totaly oblivious to the hidden danger that laid beneath sheeps clothing. Yes. Parents will need counseling, too.

"If I was Ms.Deane Bozeman, I would insist my name be taken off this School." First of all Bozeman is actually a really good school as a former student I know that. Also just because some teachers got in trouble and it hit the media doesn't mean that someone should "disown" this school, there are problems in every school not just this one. I agree that they should get their act together but going as far as saying Mrs. Bozeman should take her name off the school that's a bit harsh. BTW: I had Crew's as a teacher and I would have never suspected that from him...it's kinda crazy! I always liked him and I wouldn't have thought he would be the kind of person to commit a crime like this! People do surprise you!

He is a sick, sick man. i am in 8th grade and he was my teacher this year. All my friends knew there wasn't something right about him. Anyone who has the audacity to touch a kid, deserves to die. Sick pervert.

i have had him as a teacher once, and anyone who was in that class with me knows i did not like him. i always had a fishy feeling about him! God has blessed me with a stong discerning of spirits, meaning i know when to stay away from someone, and frankly, im so glad i didn't get along with mr. crews... as a student i think its time we pay closer attention to our teachers, and i think our new principal will do a GREAT job of paying closer attention! - DBS 10th grade student.

If i was Ms.Deane Bozeman, i would insist my name be taken off this School. Theres been too many things go at this school to be coincidence. If i was Mr.Husfelt, i would have a meeting and insist every adult that works at Bozeman be in attendance and clean house if necessary to get this schools reputation back.

I agree with Brenda. Why did they keep going back if they were not liking it? it's not like he had to physically overpower them to get them there. And we should definately not be paying him. PUT PRAYER BACK IN SCHOOL NOW
