Lately privatizing school services has been in the headlines as districts try to find ways to cut costs.
One suggestion superintendent Bill Husfelt has made is to privatize school lunches, essentially hire out a private company to take over lunchroom meals at Bay district schools. Husbelt named Chartwells Incorporated as a company to take on the job, which would still need to be approved.
If it does pass, how will it effect our kids lunches? Selection in the lunchroom? Cost? And of course, local jobs?
Tonight at the Bay District School Board Offices on Balboa, there will be a public hearing about privatizing school lunches. The meeting is set to begin at 5:00 PM.
