Fourth Suspect Arrested in 'My Place Apartments' Murder

Panama City Police are charging four suspects in connection with the murder of a 19 year old Saturday night.

The final suspect, Markel Latrae Bass, 19, surrendered to Springfield Police Monday afternoon. He is charged with one-count of murder.

Detectives say Bass was the one who shot and killed Dustin Powell, 19, late Saturday night near the “My Place” apartments on 13th street. Friends of Powell’s say he left their apartment around 10:30 to meet some people and go to another party. Shortly after he left, they heard gun shots. Around 7:00 Sunday morning Powell’s friends found him dead from several gunshot wounds.

Police are also charging Daquan Whitley, 19, and Olds Marquise Jones, 17, and Emery Abraham with principal to murder. Police claim witnesses saw bass and the other suspects heading to the area where Powell was murdered, and talking about the shooting when they returned to My Place Apartments.
