A Fort Walton family is mourning the loss of their son who was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday.
Army Specialist Ryan Cook, 29, was killed by an IED in Kabul. He was stationed in Fort Wainright Alaska and deployed to Afghanistan in July. Many of his family members were in the Airforce, but they say he joined the Army because he wanted to be on the front lines.
His funeral service will be next Friday at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
He leaves behind a wife and a 5 year old daughter.
