Senator Don Gaetz of Niceville was named the state Senate President designate in Tallahassee Monday.

Many of the participants in today’s designation were from Northwest Florida. The day will begin with a prayer breakfast, Fort Walton Beach Attorney Don Anchors and Senator Gaetz’s Pastor Paul Underdahl will speak. Niceville High School’s opus one choir sang at both the breakfast and designation in the Senate Chamber.

Gaetz’s family joined him on the Senate floor, including his son, Fort Walton Beach Representative Matt Gaetz.

Gaetz will become Florida Senate President in 2013.
