Gulf Coast Medical Center is announcing plans for a $29.5 million dollar expansion that includes a neo-natal intensive care unit.

This is a rendering of the 42 bed wing that will include the areas only level 3 neonatal intensive care unit as well as the area’s first pediatric intensive care unit as well as a new adult ICU. It is the hospital’s largest expansion since it opened in 1977.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for February of 2012, completion is expected in 2014.
