The Gulf County Court House is getting new security upgrades this week after being the scene of a triple murder in 1987.
On July 28, 1987, Clyde Melvin shot and killed his ex-wife’s attorney Tom Ingles, his former sister-in-law, and Judge Lamar Bailey. The three people were gunned down at the courthouse during a divorce hearing gone wrong. Financial reasons kept the court house from upgrading its security until now.
New security measures include an x-ray scanner, better metal detectors, more security cameras, and updated rules and regulations.
