Hurricane Irene has left more than 4.5 million people along the Eastern Seaboard without power.
Friday, Gulf Power sent a team of 65 employees to help victims along the east coast. The crew is working in the upper Marlboro area of Maryland. They are assisting Pepco Energy services restore power to customers who lost it after the storm. Pepco serves nearly 2 million people in Washington, DC and Maryland. Some of these same workers were in Tuscaloosa after April’s tornadoes.
The crews are prepared to stay for at least two weeks.
