PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL-- More than 250 million people have diabetes worldwide. Thousands of them are right here in Northwest Florida. Health officials believe there are many who don't even know they have the disease.
That's one of the reasons local author Angela Butler, from Chipley, shared her story. She wrote a book titled, "Diabetes & Me Surviving and Overcoming the Silent Killer."
Angela's message is certainly an important one. Without drastic changes in eating habits and exercise, experts predict nearly half of the American population will have diabetes, or prediabetes by the year 2020.
