Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field will cut 500 jobs as the Air Force cuts thousands of positions across the U.S.
The Defense Department has ordered the Air Force to return to 2010 job levels, meaning the service will cut 9,000 jobs. The civilian workforce restructuring will cost Eglin Air Force Base 351 jobs. The Air Force wants all the cuts in place by October 2012. They will save the Air Force about $35 million dollars at Eglin alone.
