Man Arrested for Animal Cruelty to Spend 2 Years in Jail

A Defuniak Springs man arrested in February for killing his sister-in-law’s pets will be spending the next two years in jail.

A judge sentenced Travis Ryan Atlow, 25, Tuesday to 11 months and 29 days in the Walton County Jail on each of 2-counts of animal cruelty.
Atlow’s sister-in-law reported her miniature horse and dog were missing, and told deputies she suspected Atlow because he had made previous threats.

Investigators discovered the animal’s remains buried behind his house.

Two years is not enough, if the sentence was more maybe there would be less animal abuse
