A local man faces life in prison after a jury convicted him of second degree murder Wednesday night.

Jurors came back with the guilty verdict against Jason Johnson, 28. Johnson shot and killed Mikel Middleton, 16, and badly wounded Dquon Doby, 21, in Springfield on January 15th. Johnson and codefendant Kendal Martin, 25, arranged a drug deal with Middleton and Doby at the intersection of Bob Little Road and 4th street, but Martin testified Johnson planned to rob Middleton because of an earlier dispute between the two. Middleton died at the scene.

Judge James Fensom could give them life in prison when he’s sentence November 18th.
