EASTMAN, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say an 87-year-old man was injured when his plane crashed in Dodge County.
Capt. Tony Winborn with the Dodge County Sheriff's Department told WMAZ that James Spletstoser had just taken off from a private airfield on his property when he crashed in the woods. He said Spletstoser was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Kathleen Bergen with the Federal Aviation Administration told The Associated Press that the crash happened about 8 a.m. Monday. She said the plane was either an ultralight or a light sport aircraft. She said damage in the crash is "substantial."
Winborn did not immediately return a call from the AP.
Dodge County is south of Macon.
