Schools are being held more accountable for student’s performance including preschools.

The Florida Board of Education is now regulating new standards for voluntary pre-kindergarten schools. Voluntary Pre-K schools now must achieve a certain grade to continue receiving state funding.
The Florida Board of Educators’ new standards require at least 70% of a preschool’s students have to score “kindergarten ready” on two assessment exams.

If the preschool does not make the grade, the program is labeled low performing.
