Bay District School officials now say they will not make more cuts to the school resource deputy program.
Board members agreed to renew the district’s annual school resource contract with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Last year the program was drastically cut with only one deputy assigned to each of the high schools, and two deputies covering all local middle schools. Officials say they would like more coverage, but this is all the budget can afford right now.
The Sheriff’s Office will cover the cost of two of the deputies.
