The cost of a traffic ticket in Okaloosa County could be increasing to help pay for student driver programs.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office wants to charge an extra $5 dollars per ticket to help fund the program “Teen Driver Challenge.” It’s a hands on course that teaches teens how to prevent crashes by driving defensively. The Sheriff’s office wants to continue offering the deputy-taught program, free of charge for drivers, but they need the funding to do so.
Commissioners will discuss adding $5 dollars to traffic tickets during their meeting Tuesday.
